Kyler Murray’s apparent video game habits became a meme. Now, he’s coopted that into a partnership with Call of Duty.
Murray announced a partnership to help promote the franchise’s Black Ops 6 on Monday with this message: “To the trolls who memed me into a bag, thank you! I’m officially launching my
@CallofDuty partnership!” he wrote on X.
COD’s character The Replacer takes the place of the Arizona Cardinals quarterback in front of a locker in an advertisement to announce Murray’s deal with the first-person shooter video game franchise.

“Kyler is practicing Call of Duty Black Ops 6,” The Replacer says. “I’m the quarterback now. Let’s hit the showers, huh?”
The Replacer has appeared in several COD advertisements where he takes the jobs of everyday people: from their time with family at the dinner table to slinging food truck tacos or saving cats in trees as a firefighter.
Murray’s role with the franchise remains unclear, but the trajectory of other past athletes — some of whom play in the Valley — project how this could go.
Both Devin Booker and Kevin Durant have become playable characters in COD.
Call of Duty Black Ops 6 releases on Oct. 25.
