Arizona State quarterback Sam Leavitt will start for the Sun Devils at Oklahoma State on Saturday, head coach Kenny Dillingham told reporters on Wednesday.
Leavitt cracked a rib during the second quarter of ASU’s win over Utah on Oct. 11.
He exited the game for a brief period of time but was back on the field before halftime. He then played the second half without a rushing attempt, a sign he was playing through an injury.
Dillingham said after the game that it wasn’t just the ribs that were ailing Leavitt, and the quarterback went on to miss ASU’s 24-14 loss at Cincinnati on Oct. 19. ASU had a bye week this past weekend. Jeff Sims started in Leavitt’s place.
Leavitt has completed 59% of his passes for 1,166 yards, eight touchdowns and four interceptions this season.
He has additionally rushed 55 times for 279 yards with four scores and is second on the team in rushing totals to running back Cam Skattebo.
ASU faces Oklahoma State at 4 p.m. MST Saturday. Tune to the Arizona Sports app, ESPN 620 AM or 98.7 FM HD-2. FS1 will broadcast the game on TV.
