The Phoenix Suns couldn’t pull ahead of the Sacramento Kings in overtime on Sunday, falling 127-118.
It came after the Kings gift-wrapped a chance to win to Phoenix, with a foul on an inbound that allowed Devin Booker to tie the game on a free throw before the Suns kept possession with 3.9 seconds remaining.
Booker would get a decent look at a 3-pointer from the right corner at the buzzer to win the game in regulation, but it rimmed off.
Bradley Beal scored the first points of the extra period, but DeMar DeRozan, who finished second in last year’s Clutch Player of the Year voting, scored eight straight points to give Sacramento a commanding lead.
Beal, who went down earlier in the period before staying in the game, had a four-point play, but Sacramento guard De’Aaron Fox had four straight buckets to stay in front of Phoenix.
The game marked the end of Phoenix’s seven-game win streak and the end to the Suns’ perfect record at home, which is now 5-1.
The Suns next have their first game of the Emirates NBA Cup, which will tip in Utah against the Jazz at 7 p.m. MST on Tuesday.
