Why didn’t Marvin Harrison Jr.’s TD catch count vs. Seahawks?

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr. looked like he had his seventh touchdown of his rookie year in the second quarter of his team’s 16-6 loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
Emphasis on the word “looked.”
Contorting his body over a defender, Harrison not only went up and got the football, he somehow still got one foot down before hitting the pylon and falling in the end zone.
At first glance, it looked like Harrison had secured the game’s first points of the afternoon.

But take a closer look and that’s not the case.
While the pylon counts when breaking the plane of the goal line, it does not count as an extension of the ground.
Simply put: Harrison needed to get his other foot down for it to be a touchdown.
Close but no cigar.
The Cardinals didn’t come away completely empty handed, though, with second-year pro Chad Ryland knocking in a 35-yard field goal.
And although Harrison’s catch counts as an incompletion, it was still one heck of an attempt by the rookie.
Harrison finished the afternoon with three catches (six targets) for 47 yards.
Another streak ended
After starting out 3-for-3, Jonathan Gannon lost the first challenge of his head-coaching career on the play.
It wasn’t the only streak snapped on Sunday, either.
The defense ended its run of not allowing a touchdown to opposing offenses that spanned the past two weeks.
Quarterback Kyler Murray also watched his completion streak end at 20.
