ASU running back Cam Skattebo collects 5th Big 12 weekly award of season

Arizona State running back Cam Skattebo earned Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week honors for his performance in a 49-7 win at Arizona on Saturday.
The Big 12 named its weekly winners Monday, with Texas Tech’s Tahj Brooks, Colorado’s Travis Hunter and Baylor’s Sawyer Robertson also named Big 12 Co-Offensive Player of the Week.
The conference additionally named Utah’s Zemaiah Vaughn defensive player of the week, Baylor’s Bryson Washington as newcomer of the week and Texas Tech’s Gino Garcia, BYU’s Talan Alfrey and TCU’s Ethan Craw as the co-special teams player of the week.
It is the 12th time an ASU football player has been recognized as a conference player of the week this season, the most in the Big 12. Colorado is the school with the next most in the conference at eight times.
Skattebo rushed 21 times for 177 yards (an average of 8.4 yards per carry) and three touchdowns against the Wildcats. He also collected one catch for 8 yards.

His three first-half touchdowns helped the Sun Devils build a 35-0 lead at the half.
It was the second week in a row Skattebo had three first-half rushing touchdowns, becoming the only player in Big 12 history to reach that milestone against two FBS schools.
Skattebo previously won the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week honor for games on Nov. 2 at Oklahoma State, Oct. 11 against Utah, Oct. 5 versus Kansas and Sept. 7 against Mississippi State.
The running back in his second season with ASU has tallied 1,398 rushing yards, 468 receiving yards and 19 total touchdowns in 11 games.
Eno Benjamin holds the ASU rushing record of 1,642 yards in 2018.
Skattebo would crack into the top five as early as Saturday if he runs for at least 30 yards to surpass Freddie Williams’ 1975 season of 1,427 yards.
He would need 34 yards to move past Art Malone (1,431) for fourth, 105 yards to overtake Wilford White (1,502) for third and 168 yards to climb ahead of Woody Green (1,565) for second on the list.
The Sun Devils will face Iowa State in the Big 12 Championship game on Dec. 7 at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas at 10 a.m. MST on ABC.
