Kansas State-Rutgers set for Rate Bowl in Phoenix

Kansas State and Rutgers are set to play in the Rate Bowl at Chase Field in Phoenix, Arizona.
The Rate Bowl, previously known as Guaranteed Rate Bowl, will be played on Dec. 26 at 3:30 p.m. MST on ESPN. This will be the 15th time the game will be played at the home of the Arizona Diamondbacks.
The Wildcats went 8-4 overall in 2024 as part of the Big 12 Conference while the Scarlet Knights went 7-5 in the Big Ten.
This will be the 35th edition of the game with Kansas beating UNLV 49-36 in 2023.
Kansas State, Rutgers’ history in the Rate Bowl
Kansas State are 3-1 in the bowl game with its most recent appearance in 2017 (then the Cactus Bowl) where the Wildcats beat the UCLA Bruins, 35-17. Rutgers has made one appearance in the Rate Bowl (then the Insight Bowl) in 2005 where the Scarlet Knights lost to the Arizona State Sun Devils, 45-40.
Kansas State and Rutgers have played each other only once in football with the Scarlet Knights beating the Wildcats, 37-10, in 2006.
In other bowl games in Arizona, Boise State will be playing in the Fiesta Bowl at State Farm Stadium in Glendale on Dec. 31 as part of the College Football Playoff quarterfinals. Miami (Ohio) and Colorado State will be playing in the Snoop Dogg Arizona Bowl in Tucson at Arizona Stadium on Dec. 28.
