Everyone familiar with the Arizona Cardinals knows that their success this season is reliant upon Carson Palmer’s health. Last Sunday against the New Orleans Saints Palmer looked good as new, making difficult throws throughout the game.

Those throws really impressed ESPN’s Ron Jaworski, who joined Burns & Gambo on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and discussed how the Arizona Cardinals played in their win and the great play of Palmer.

“I’m not sure there are many quarterbacks that are as pure a passer as he is,” Jaworski said.

Palmer was 19-for-32 with 307 yards and three touchdowns in the Week 1 win.

“To get into the top five [quarterbacks] there are always just three to four throws every game that separate the great ones from the good ones and I saw a number of great throws in this game that very few quarterbacks can make,” Jaworski said.

Jaworski believes the Cardinals can build on the success they’ve had when Palmer is healthy and even improve.

“You just got to believe that if Carson Palmer can stay healthy, that 6-0 start could go on for a little bit longer,” Jaworski said.

The Cardinals quarterback stood out for Jaworski, but the balance that the running game offered was also worth talking about.

“I think balance is so important for an offensive side,” Jaworski said. “If you become one-dimensional it becomes a lot easier for defenses to shut you down.”

It always comes down to Palmer though and there’s no doubt about how well he played.

“He looked really, really good,” Jaworski said.
