Oregon Ducks will don uniforms commemorating the state’s history on Saturday

After spending the last several seasons as an alpha predator in the Pac-12 Conference, the Oregon Ducks have made a dramatic return to earth, finding themselves in the unfamilar role of “hunter” instead of “hunted”.  Following an eye-opening 62-20 loss to Utah two Saturdays ago, the Ducks clawed their way to a 41-24 victory over Colorado in Boulder this past weekend, though its clear this isn’t same dominant team from years past.

Perhaps another uniform change is the answer for what ails Mark Helfrich and company.

Playing host to Washington State this upcoming Saturday, the Ducks will sport new uniforms that will pay homage to the state’s history and its founders Meriweather Lewis and William Clark.

The uniforms will feature patterns of the Oregon Trail, a silhouette of Lewis and Clark against a silver helmet and the 33-star U.S. flag from 1859, the year Oregon officially became a state.  The words “Salute the State” will also appear on the neck line of the jersey.
