In a year in which the Arizona State offense has endured wild bouts of inconsistency, junior wide receiver Tim White has been the light in, at times, perplexing darkness.
This was no more evident than in the Sun Devils’ 34-18 loss to then-No. 4-ranked Utah this past Saturday in Salt Lake City, when White piled up 169 kick return yards — including a 100-yard kickoff return for a touchdown — on four returns en route to earn Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week honors.

White’s special teams score was ASU’s first kickoff return for a touchdown since 2012, helping the Sun Devils to a 10-7 lead at the end of the first quarter before ASU’s offensive struggles reared their ugly head the rest of the way.
For the season, White leads the Pac-12 in kick return yards (511) and average yards per return (31.9), while ranking third nationally in the former category. White also leads the Sun Devils with five touchdown receptions and ranks second and third on the team, respectively, in receiving yards (303) and receptions (22).
White is the second Sun Devil to earn Pac-12 Special Teams Player of the Week recognition after punter Matt Haack took home the honors following his eight punts for 345 yards in ASU’s 38-23 win at UCLA.
