Brandon Knight gets triple-double, breaks Marcelo Huertas’ ankles

This is a story of a man who has broken a few ankles and another who keeps getting them broke.

Phoenix Suns guard Brandon Knight now has two nasty crossovers to his name this season. On Monday night, the Suns point guard sent 32-year-old Lakers rookie Marcelo Huertas skating into no-man’s land before he stepped behind the three-point line to bury an easy jumper.

It was the beginning of a historic evening for Knight, who tallied his first triple-double. Knight scored 30 points, dished out a career-high 15 assists, grabbed 10 rebounds and added four steals.

According to Elias, Knight joins Pistol Pete Maravich, Magic Johnson and Russell Westbrook to post at least that combination of numbers since steals became a statistic in 1973-74.

This, after the 23-year-old tied a career-high of 37 points last Thursday against the Clippers.

Speaking of the Clippers and Knight embarrassing people, the Suns guard also embarrassed Los Angeles forward Paul Pierce last week, crossing the NBA veteran over and making him hit the deck before finishing the play off with a pretty floater.

Huertas, a Brazilian point guard who has put together a very successful career playing in the big leagues in Spain, hasn’t exactly had a great introduction to the NBA.

For one, his Lakers aren’t doing so well. It’s even worse when casual NBA fans are learning about his game by watching highlights like Knight served up Monday.

Huertas previously got some attention when Heat guard Tyler Johnson crossed him up.

Phoenix fans may not pity a Laker, and the Suns certainly didn’t in their 120-101 victory on Monday.

But because it’s the morally correct thing to do, here’s to hoping Marcelo can keep his name out of highlight reels for all the wrong reasons moving forward.
