It wasn’t pretty. In fact, at times it was downright ugly. But the
Arizona Rattlers will take it.
Quarterback Nick Davila found Kerry Reed on a 6-yard touchdown
pass with just :05 left and the Rattlers stole a 57-53 win away from
the Spokane Shock at US Airways Center.
Spokane had a late lead and was seemingly on the doorstep of
putting the game away with the ball at the Rattlers’ 5-yard line, but
on a third down, center Ryan Cave and quarterback Kyle Rowley
couldn’t execute a center exchange and Glen Fox recovered, giving
the Rattlers new life.
Davila ended the night 20-of-33 for 320 yards and 5 touchdown
passes, but threw three interceptions, including one that was returned
for a touchdown by linebacker Terrence Moore that gave Spokane a
10-point lead late in the third quarter.
Maurice Purify caught 10 passes for 205 yards and three scores for
Arizona, who improved their record to 3-1 on the season while
Spokane falls to 1-3. The Rattlers travel to take on the Iowa
Barnstormers (2-2) next week.
