Arizona starting point guard Kadeem Allen left the second half of his Wildcats’ 85-62 victory over Fresno State on Wednesday with a sprained ankle.

Coach Sean Miller told the media afterward that he won’t know Allen’s status. Allen rolled his ankle severely in the second half and did not put weight on his right leg as he was helped to the locker room.

The 6’3 Allen finished the game with 15 points and five assists. For the season, he has been a positive contributor for the Wildcats, averaging 7.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. The junior who sat out last season after transferring from junior college will likely be replaced in Arizona’s starting lineup by sophomore Parker Jackson-Carwright.

Jackson-Cartwright is averaging 6.0 points and 3.4 assists per game this season in 23 minutes.

That means Miller’s 13th-ranked team could face Missouri this Friday without two starters. Starting center Kaleb Tarczewski remains out with a foot injury and after the game Miller told reporters he’s never dealt with so many injuries this early in a season.

Against Fresno State, Arizona got 27 points from freshman guard Allonzo Trier, but the bench unit only gets more thin after scoring 10 points.

Freshman guard Justin Simon and big man Chance Comanche were two of four bench players for Arizona against the Bulldogs, but they played a combined eight minutes.

Swingman Elliott Pitts also missed the game due for personal reasons.

It’s expected that Simon could see an increase in his minutes if Allen misses any games. Miller could also opt to play senior guard Gabe York at point guard in spurts.
