The job security of Phoenix Suns coach Jeff Hornacek is in question after a loss to the 2-30 Philadelphia 76ers, according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.

According to Stein’s league sources, Hornacek’s job is in jeopardy after a 5-15 stretch which included Saturday’s 111-101 loss to the 76ers.

Yahoo! Sports’ Adrian Wojnarowski followed that report with news that Suns owner Robert Sarver and general manager Ryan McDonough met Sunday with players and assistant coaches. He reports the team remains “reluctant” to fire Hornacek, who is now 99-97 in two-plus seasons as Phoenix’s head coach.

If the reports are true, it would be a reversal of what McDonough told Arizona Sports 98.7 FM’s Burns and Gambo last week when asked about the future of Hornacek.

At the time, McDonough said that a coaching change had not been discussed and said that it does not appear that Hornacek’s job is in any danger if things don’t improve. McDonough cited Hornacek’s winning record as proof he can get the job done and added that they will give him every opportunity to be successful.

However, that was said before the Suns dropped two games against teams many thought they should have beaten in the Denver Nuggets and the Philadelphia 76ers.

In addition to rumors of a coaching change, there is the Markieff Morris situation in which the the forward was suspended for two games after he threw a towel at Hornacek during the Suns’ 104-96 loss to the Nuggets on Wednesday.

The Suns (12-20) host the defending Eastern Conference champion Cleveland Cavaliers (19-9) on Monday and then travel to face the No. 2 and No. 3 teams in the Western Conference,  San Antonio (26-6) and Oklahoma City (20-10).

Hornacek could be a free agent head coach this summer but does have a team option for the 2016-17 season.
