The John Scott All-Star campaign was successful, with Scott being named one of the four captains for the 2016 All-Star game.

Scott will join Patrick Kane (Central), Alex Ovechkin (Metropolitan) and Jaromir Jagr (Atlantic) as the captains of the four division teams.

Scott, the Pacific captain, said he was surprised, shocked and excited by the announcement.

“At first I thought it was a joke, but now it happened and I kind of got to with it and have some fun with it and just try to do my best out there,” Scott said.

Kane gave his support for Scott, saying he hopes to see him play and said it’s good for the game.

“I think it will be good for the game,” Scott said regarding the quote. “I’ll be fine, I’ll go out there and do my best. I hope (Kane) goes out there too.”

A movement started by a podcast that grew on Reddit, Scott is headed to Nashville as the captain of the Pacific division.

The new All-Star format is a 3-on-3 three-game tournament, featuring four teams from each division. The National Hockey League Hockey Operations Department will select the rest of the roster.

In what may not be a surprise, Scott said he has never played 3-on-3.

Scott, known for his size and fighting skill, has one assist in eleven games played entering Saturday’s game against the Edmonton Oilers.

Scott said that his teammates have been joking with him, calling him “All-Star.”

Yahoo says that the NHL plans to allow Scott to play in the game if he chooses to do so.

Scott confirmed that he is going to the game and got advice from different people that said to go and have fun with the experience.

Jagr is another somewhat controversial captain, after the 43-year-old expressed his lack of interest in playing with that much open ice.

Unlike Scott, Jagr is playing at an All-Star level, with a team-leading 26 points for the Florida Panthers.

The All-Star game takes place on Jan. 31.
