The Phoenix Suns have decided to cut big man Cory Jefferson and point guard Bryce Cotton before their contracts become fully-guaranteed next week.

The moves were announced Thursday afternoon.

With Jefferson and Cotton waived, the Suns open two roster spots after entering Wednesday night at the 15-man maximum.

Jefferson averaged 2.0 points and 1.7 rebounds in 4.7 minutes per game. After making the Suns’ opening-night roster, he appeared just six times this season in a frontcourt of relatively even depth at center and power forward.

The 25-year-old out of Baylor was drafted 60th overall in the 2014 draft and spent his rookie year with the Brooklyn Nets.

Cotton, who was signed from the Austin Spurs in the D-League on Nov. 25, played in three games once Eric Bledsoe was lost for the season with a knee injury. He totaled four points, three steals and three assists in three games that amounted to 33 minutes.

Cotton’s deal would be fully-guaranteed beyond Jan. 10.
