Larry Fitzgerald wants to be an Arizona Cardinal

Ask any fan of the Arizona Cardinals about their team’s most pressing need and you will almost always get the same answer, quarterback.

While signal caller may be the team’s most obvious hole right now, others argue that resigning wide receiver Larry Fitzgerald may be of bigger concern for the future.

The Pro-Bowler is not only the best receiver on the Cardinals, but arguably the top wideout in the NFL as well.

In his seven year NFL career Fitzgerald has caught 65 touchdown passes and amassed over 8,000 receiving yards.

While Fitzgerald has expressed his desire to remain in Arizona, he realizes his time in the Valley may be limited.

“I have one more year left on my deal,” Fitzgerald told the Minnesota Star Tribune. “My job is to try to help the Arizona Cardinals win a championship and that’s my focus. I would like to play there. I’ve enjoyed my seven years there. If they want to keep me they’re going to have the first option to keep me. If they don’t, then obviously I have to find employment elsewhere.”

When asked about where “elsewhere” may be, the star wideout acknowledged a return to his home state of Minnesota would be a dream come true, but also added that he is not stressing over it.

“Honestly, I like coming home and just it being home,” Fitzgerald said. “I go out with Adrian [Peterson] or Sidney [Rice] or Jared [Allen], guys like that, and they get mobbed everywhere they go. I see how Joe [Mauer] gets mobbed everywhere. I’m good at just coming home and being able just to blend in and just being a regular guy. I kind of like that. So if it happened, it would obviously be a childhood dream come true, but if it doesn’t then I won’t lose any sleep over it.”

Fitzgerald mentioned that he enjoys his ability to fly under the radar in Phoenix, which adds to the appeal of the Cardinals.

Seeing the longtime Cardinal in a purple Vikings jersey would certainly be a strange sight for football fans, but it appears that will not happen unless the Cardinals allow it to.
