As far as rough days for NBA players go, Wednesday wasn’t great for Suns rookie Devin Booker.
Booker first found himself left out of the NBA’s Rising Stars Challenge, an All-Star weekend game made of rookie and sophomore players divided into international and United States rosters. And when it came to game time against the Eastern Conference leaders, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Booker was facing another tall task against LeBron James and Co. James literally came at Booker with full force early on.
On a fastbreak opportunity, James was speeding to the rim for a likely dunk when the Suns rookie laid a hard foul on The King to prevent the 6-foot-8, 250 locomotive from getting a shot off. LeBron capped the play with this aggressive staredown of Booker.
The foul was hard enough to stop the game for officials to review whether it was flagrant. It was ultimately ruled a common foul.
Here’s another angle of the hard foul.
Review (Crew): if Booker committed a flagrant foul in Q1 of #PHXatCLE. Ruling: Common Foul on Booker. https://t.co/T9t1USsTq7
