The Arizona Diamondbacks added to their bullpen Monday.

Clippard, 30, pitched for the New York Mets and Oakland A’s last season, posting a 5-4 record with 19 saves and a 2.92 ERA. Prior to that, he spent seven seasons with the Washington Nationals, during which time he earned a reputation for being one of the game’s best and most reliable relief pitchers.

The right-hander comes to Arizona with a career ERA of 2.88 to go along with a 1.09 WHIP, a 42-29 record, 53 saves and 158 holds. He was an All-Star in 2011 and 2014.

The Clippard signing comes on the heals of what has been a busy offseason for the Diamondbacks as they re-worked their pitching staff. It started when the team landed ace Zack Greinke on a six-year, $206.5 million contract and continued when the D-backs acquired Shelby Miller in a trade with the Atlanta Braves.
