It looks like Chase Budinger’s contract with the Indiana Pacers will be bought out, which wouldn’t really be news in Arizona unless you are a Wildcats fan who is keeping tabs on one of your former players.

But according to IndyStar Sports Pacers writer Candace Buckner, Budinger’s buyout could pave the way for the forward to head West.

The Suns currently have one open roster spot, and could see value in the 27-year-old who has played for the Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves and Pacers.

A second-round pick in the 2009 draft, Budinger has career averages of 8.1 points, 3.1 rebounds and 1.2 assists per game while shooting .428 from the field and .355 from 3-point range. This season, he is averaging a career-low 4.5 points and 2.5 rebounds in 15 minutes per game.

While in college at Arizona, Budinger earned a reputation for being an outstanding leaper and decent long-range shooter. As a junior, he averaged 18 points, 6.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game for a team that reached the Sweet 16.
