Re-up or Reject: Gabe Watson

Jul 20, 2011, 2:24 PM | Updated: 4:33 pm

Gabe Watson has had an up-and-down career with the Cardinals, and as a free agent it could come to an end once the lockout ends.

Re-up: Watson is great at taking up space. At 6 foot 4 and 338 pounds, he’s tough to move off the ball and is pretty good when he’s in shape. While not asked to be a starter, he is great when filling in and can be a very solid rotation player on a good defense.

Reject: Watson has a tendency to get out of shape and, even when in shape, is nothing special as a player. In five NFL seasons he’s never had more than one sack in a season, and you’d be hard pressed to find more than a handful of games in which he had any significant impact.
