ESPN’s Carter: Carson Palmer helps, but other Cardinals must do their jobs

ESPN NFL analyst Cris Carter knows Arizona Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald about as well as anyone, so watching him suffer with the team’s quarterback situation the last couple years was no fun for him.
Needless to say, he’s glad to see Carson Palmer take the reins, but knows that alone will not mean a return to prominence for No. 11.
The offensive line must improve.
“Carson can throw it, he’s still in great shape,” Carter told Arizona Sports 620’s Bickley with Marotta Thursday. “He’s still got a lot of action in his arm, but you’ve got to give him time to throw the ball.
“And, they need someone else from the skill-set — tight end, wide receiver — to step up and take some of that pressure off of Larry on the outside.”
Carter added that Palmer is a “huge” part of the equation to fixing the team’s offensive issues, and he’s looking forward to seeing what the new QB/WR duo can do on the field in 2013.
“But other people have to do their jobs,” he said.
