Zack Greinke’s Arizona Diamondbacks debut did not go as planned.
That’s an understatment — it was horrible.
Greinke was roughed up by the Colorado Rockies for seven runs on nine hits in just four innings of work in a 10-5 loss. He yielded three home runs — including two to rookie shortstop Trevor Story. It was the first time an opposing team had connected for three home runs off of Greinke since 2009.
The reason for the poor performance? Colorado obviously did a good job of hitting against one of the best pitchers in baseball, but there may have been another factor, according to Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.
Sources: #Dbacks’ Greinke pitched with flu. Did not come close to missing start; decision that he would pitch was made day before.

Greinke, nor his manager Chip Hale, mentioned any sickness during their postgame comments Monday night.
Stay tuned.
