The most outrageous fashion statements at the 2016 NFL Draft

The NFL Draft is about young mens’ dreams coming true, the future of the league, yadda, yadda, yadda.

It’s also a fantastic day for fashion statements.

At the threads blog, we’re taking note. Here are some of the most outrageous, clean, classic and just plain interesting fashion statements from Day 1 of the 2016 NFL Draft.

Ezekiel Elliott’s fashion “thing” during his career at Ohio State might’ve been relatively subtle.

His bare midriff wasn’t so uncommon for a running back in pads, but Zeke took it to another level with his getup at the draft, where the OSU running back sported the same crop-top look. Even without the light blue cutoff dress shirt, Elliott’s style was a statement.

The white bowtie and powder blue and white jacket was a solid look as Elliott walked the red carpet. The white pants and blue boat shoes tied it all together. Now to see if he’ll button that jacket up before he shakes Roger Goodell’s hand.

Like Elliott, Alabama defensive tackle A’Shawn Robinson also went with a eye-popping two-tone jacket.

His red and black jacket melding interestingly over a gray vest, gray slacks and a white button-up underneath. Zoom in, and it’s clear Robinson’s watch game was on point. The glasses add to a mature look — to reporter Eric Seger’s point, the man doesn’t look 21 years old.

Spike-studded shoes are in.

We’re not sure if that’s what they’re called, but it seems like an apt description. Florida State defensive back Jalen Ramsey was choosing between spike-studded dress shoes or a glittery alternate.

Notre Dame lineman Ronnie Stanley just went for it.

Ole Miss pass rusher Robert Nkemdiche went all black with a few gold accents. It’s different. We like it.

Here’s Nkemdiche with teammates Laremy Tunsil and Laquon Treadwell, the latter of whom is winning the jacket game.

Jarran Reed from Alabama gets our vote for best color-scheme of the day. This purple suit pops even more with a purple and gold tie, gold pocket square and blingy sunglasses.

Baylor wideout Corey Coleman represented his school with an emerald green suit and pants combo. The green and gold tie is a nice touch as well.
