NFL Draft: Cardinals pick Brandon Williams has an awesome 40-yard dash routine

Apr 29, 2016, 8:55 PM

Stop us if you’ve heard this before.

Bruce Arians drafted a player who is quite fast. To continue their 2016 NFL Draft selections on Friday, the Arizona Cardinals selected Texas A&M cornerback Brandon Williams with their 92nd overall pick, the 29th choice of the third round.

Like John Brown did two years ago and J.J. Nelson did in 2015, Williams’ 40-yard dash time appears to have attracted the Cardinals’ attention.

Williams tied for the sixth-best 40-yard time at this year’s combine, running a 4.37 second dash.

What’s his secret?

Maybe Williams’ warm-up routine.

Dust yourself off, line up your sights, stand on your tight-rope, give the man upstairs some love, stretch it out and get ready, Brandon.

You’re heading to the desert.

Williams played running back until his senior season with the Aggies. He started 13 games last year and recorded 37 tackles while breaking up seven passes. But it was his combine, his 5-foot-11, 197-pound frame and his speed that made him a promising project pick.
