NBA Draft Lottery primer: Phoenix Suns odds and how to watch
May 17, 2016, 8:00 AM
After suffering through the second-worst season in franchise history, the Phoenix Suns hope their woes will be rewarded with a little bit of luck Tuesday night.
Phoenix owns the fourth-best odds of moving up in the NBA Draft Lottery, and 19-year-old guard Devin Booker will represent the team while acting as the Suns’ good-luck charm.
With 11.9 percent odds of earning the top overall pick, the Suns also have a 24.5 percent shot at a top-two selection — a key considering the talent dropoff in this specific draft pool — and a 37.8 percent shot at moving into the top three picks.
The lottery includes 14 NBA non-playoff teams and only decides the top-three picks. The remaining 11 teams will draft in order of their odds that are determined by their 2015-16 season records.
Phoenix will likely have two picks in the lottery after acquiring the Washington Wizards’ pick in the Markieff Morris trade in February. There is a 2.5 percent chance the Wizards will keep the pick, which is top-10 protected.
Washington has the 13th-best odds in this year’s lottery.
