Arizona State coach Bobby Hurley and staff haven’t let one disappointing near-miss stop their momentum.

Four-star power forward Romello White out of Marietta, Ga., committed to Arizona State on Thursday, giving the Sun Devils their fourth player in the 2016 recruiting class and third 4-star prospect.

White’s commitment marks a step in the right direction for ASU after it led in the recruitment for 5-star big man Thon Maker. Instead of attending ASU, the 19-year-old prep school standout was cleared to enter the NBA Draft.

The 6-foot-9, 220-pound White originally committed to Georgia Tech and coach Brian Gregory but revisited his other options when former Memphis coach Josh Pastner took over for the Yellow Jackets.

The Sun Devils have had positive results on the recruiting front, both in talent and in need.

White continues Hurley’s emphasis of adding size with the 2016 class after ASU struggled without frontcourt girth the season prior. The forward joins 4-star small forward Sam Cunliffe, 4-star center Jethro Tshisumpa and 3-star faceup forward Vitaliy Shibel in Hurley’s 2016 class.

According to ESPN’s scouting report, White projects as a physical energy big man who gets most of his baskets in the paint.

White is a long, athletic and mobile power forward that runs the floor extremely well. He scores in the low post with good patience with his right hand over his left shoulder with good touch.

ESPN ranks White as the 77th-best player in his class and the 21st-best power forward. Scout ranks him 81st overall and as the 15th-best power forward.

Scout bumped the Sun Devils to No. 21 in its team recruiting rankings following White’s commitment.
