It looks like the Arizona State Sun Devils are getting some much-needed help in the defensive secondary.

Bryson Echols, a graduate transfer from Texas, announced on Twitter Thursday that he’s “officially an Arizona State Sun Devil.”

Echols just completed his redshirt junior season at Texas and is likely immediately eligible for ASU head coach Todd Graham. The DeSoto, Texas native played in six games for the Longhorns in 2015, registering three total tackles. He played in 30 games during his three years in Austin.

In February, Echols penned a letter to the Texas fan base explaining his intentions.

Echols was ranked as the sixth-best cornerback and 79th-best overall prospect in the nation in 2012 by ESPNU.

The 5-foot-10, 180-pound Echols could help offset the loss of starting cornerbacks Lloyd Carrington and Kweishi Brown, who both played in all 13 games for ASU last season and combined for 94 tackles, three interceptions and 16 pass break-ups.
