Rumor: Arizona Cardinals have discussed Kyle Orton
We’ve heard the media and Arizona Cardinals fans debate Kevin Kolb versus Kyle Orton. It now sounds like the Cardinals front office may be doing the same.
According to the NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora, via the NFL Network’s Albert Breer on Twitter, the Cardinals are having trade discussions with the Denver Broncos about their veteran quarterback.
Our @JasonLaCanfora just reported that Miami, Arizona & Minnesota are in on Kyle Orton. I’d throw Tennessee in the group, if price is right.
Do the Cardinals now prefer Orton to Kolb? Probably not. In all likelihood they view the Broncos’ signal caller as a good second option and as leverage in their negotiations with the Eagles.
With the Broncos officially putting Orton on the market the Cards can now put pressure on the Eagles to lower their asking price for Kolb.
The more quarterbacks the Cardinals are interested in the better. It just means, one way or another, the Derek Anderson/Max Hall/John Skelton/Rich Bartel era is coming to an end. Now, that’s something fans can get behind.
