PGA’s Tony Finau visits fan he hit with tee shot

May 31, 2016, 9:17 AM

There are no mulligans on the PGA Tour.

Still, even after PGA pro Tony Finau’s tee shot injured a fan, he decided to remedy the situation.

A young woman was watching from the 11th hole when Finau, ranked number 80 in the world, struck her with a drive that went to the left. She suffered a cut that covered her in blood and required stitches.

“After the incident, it was kind of hard to erase it from my mind just because of the image. She was bleeding from head to toe,” Finau told the Golf Channel. “It was hard for me to kind of regroup mentally. I felt like, ‘I hope I didn’t kill somebody.’”

The 26-year-old golfer got the woman’s contact information from a tournament official, then visited her with flowers and chocolate.

“Luckily I am ok and all I needed was a few stitches,” the fan said in a post on her Instagram account. “In a very stand up gesture, he showed up at my door step with flowers, chocolates, a get well soon card, and he stayed and talked with us for a bit.”

“I felt like I had to,” Finau said. “I just wanted to make sure she was OK, just for my peace of mind.”

Finau finished the tournament tied for 34th and is currently ranked 35th in the standings for the FedEx Cup.
