Hey! “Ice Bites” is finally back from the holiday break!

There’s some good news for Phoenix Coyotes fans in 2014. Not only is captain Shane Doan back on the ice after missing a month thanks to contracting Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever from a tick bite, but a few of the Desert Dogs are headed to the 2014 Olympic Games in Sochi, Russia.

While I’m excited for Zbynek Michalek (Czech Republic), Martin Hanzal (also Czech), Lauri Korpikoski (Finland) and Oliver Ekman-Larsson (Sweden), I’m really excited fot goaltender Mike Smith.

Smitty likely didn’t expect to make the cut but I would have raised an eyebrow if he were left at home. He certainly deserves the trip, even if he doesn’t stand that good of a chance of seeing the ice.
