The Phoenix Mercury re-signed three-time WNBA Sixth Woman of the Year DeWanna Bonner to a new contract Thursday.
Bonner, a first round draft pick out of Auburn in 2009, was thrust into Phoenix’s starting lineup after the team suffered a rash of injuries last season. In 32 games, Bonner averaged a career-high 20.6 points (2nd in WNBA) and 7.2 rebounds per game.
“We are thrilled to re-sign DeWanna and keep our core group intact for the next several years,” Mercury President and Chief Operating Officer Amber Cox said in a statement. “We expect DB to be a cornerstone of this franchise for years to come.”
