The Phoenix Mercury announced Friday that they’ve rewarded guard Diana Taurasi with a multi-year contract extension.

The 32-year-old Taurasi, who is in her 11th season in the WNBA, is averaging 17.0 points, 3.9 rebounds and a league-leading 5.8 assists per contest. The seven-time All-Star is the league’s second all-time leading scorer with over 6,600 points.

“Diana Taurasi isn’t just the face of our franchise, she is the face of women’s basketball,” Mercury General Manager Jim Pitman said in a statement. “She is an example to young athletes everywhere — a fearless competitor, leader, and a consummate teammate with an unmatched drive to be the best. She is everything you would want to build a championship team around and we are thrilled that she will continue her career in a Mercury uniform.”

Taurasi has led the Mercury to two WNBA titles (2007 and 2009) and currently has them atop the league with a 25-4 record.
