Arizona Cardinals rookie center Evan Boehm met with Doug and Wolf on Arizona Sports 98.7 FM and discussed how he is getting acclimated to the team’s system.

“I’m just trying to get this offense down,” Boehm said. “I’m trying to go out there and compete every day and make sure the coaches realize I am getting better each and every day.”

Boehm is coming into the season competing with veteran A.Q. Shipley for the starting center job, but first he has to get used to the NFL and a new style of play.

“I’m enjoying the process and you know it’s tough coming in here and learning new terminology,” Boehm said.

For the fourth round draft pick out of Mizzou to pick up the offense, he knows it’s going to be a lot of work on the field, but also off the field as well.

“The game is a lot more complex,” Boehm said. “That’s why you have to sit down every night, open up the playbook and stick your nose in it for a little bit.”

The 6-foot-2, 309-pound center, who was team captain and started in 52 consecutive games for the Tigers, believes that it will take more than just his size to be good in the NFL.

“That’s one thing I pride myself on, is being an intelligent football player, but that comes from studying and working hard at it,” Boehm said.

Boehm added since the rookie minicamp, he has gotten better at identifying defensive fronts and with his calls from the line of scrimmage, along with his snaps.
