The big instate rivalry, the Duel in the Desert, is taking place Thursday in Tucson. Whether you’re an Arizona State Sun Devil or Arizona Wildcat, here are some quick facts to give you everything you need to know for the game.

• This is the 84th time ASU and UofA have gone head-to-head. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 46-36-1.

• Arizona has won the last two games in the Duel in the Desert.

• The Territorial Cup, given out to the winner of the game, has been certified by the NCAA as the oldest award given in a rivalry game.

• The first Territorial Cup was presented to Tempe Normal School (now ASU) after its 11-2 victory over Arizona at Tucson’s Carrillo Gardens Field on Thanksgiving Day, Nov. 30, 1899.

• With a win, Arizona’s Mike Stoops will have coached the Wildcats to three straight eight win seasons.

• ASU’s offense is averaging 32.5 points a game (3rd best in the Pac-10) while Arizona’s defense has only allowed 20.8 points a game (3rd best in the Pac-10).

• ASU’s pass defense allows 243.4 yards a game to opponents (8th in the Pac-10) while Arizona’s offense averages 314 passing yards a game (1st in the Pac-10 and 9th in NCAA).

• The Wildcats have allowed 811 rushing yards in their last three games.

• ASU has three kickoff returns for touchdowns this season tying a Pac-10 record.

• Arizona has 27 sacks on the season, the second most in Stoops time in Tucson, but they haven’t had one in their previous three games.

• The Sun Devils have blocked four kicks, three punts and an extra point this year. Brent Burnstein has blocked three by himself.
