A.D. Lisa Love still hoping for an ASU bowl bid

Arizona State University heads into the Territorial Cup seeking their sixth win of the season; however, even if they pull off the upset on Thursday the Sun Devils will most likely left out of postseason play. ASU Athletic Director Lisa Love told Sports 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash there is still a slight chance that the Sun Devils will appear in a bowl game.

“We are doing everything we possibly can to see if we can’t get some relief and to have that opportunity,” Love said. “We are in a wait and see mode on that, but we are absolutely putting up a fight at that end.”

A sixth win, normally the qualifier for bowl eligibility, would not be enough for ASU because their first two wins were against FBS opponents Portland State and Northern Arizona. Love says she is attempting to give ASU a chance to play in a bowl by sending in a petition to the NCAA.

“I don’t have a definitive answer yet except we are very much in the process of battling for it,” Love said.

Before any waiver is even considered, Love knows the Sun Devils must get that sixth win this week against rival Airzona.

“First things first though, we need to take care of business on Thursday,” she said.
