Erickson talks ASU recruiting class

After the dust cleared on an unpredictable signing day, the Arizona State Sun Devils ended up with 14 new players that head coach Dennis Erickson is excited to add to a promising 2011 squad.
Erickson joined 620 KTAR’s Gambo and Ash show Wednesday to discuss his relatively small class consisting of 12 freshmen along with two junior college transfers.
“I haven’t quite been in a situation where we were only able to sign this many but it worked out good, the guys that we’ve got and the guys that we have committed is a good class,” Erickson said.
“It’s kind of how we planned it number wise, so again like a lot of it, the proof of the pudding is when they play but we’re excited about it.”
Erickson said the class was smaller because ASU had only 13 seniors this season and plans to recruit a larger class next year when there are more scholarships available.
This year’s class includes seven defensive players, six offensive players and one special teams player, including two of the nation’s top rated quarterbacks, Mike Bercovici and Michael Eubank. Bercovici is ranked as the seventh best quarterback by PrepStar and Eubank is ranked as the eighth best dual-threat quarterback by Rivals.com.
