Arizona State LB Brandon Magee out for season

The injury bug has taken another bite out of the Arizona State football squad.
Linebacker and defensive leader Brandon Magee was carted off of the practice field on Saturday with a season-ending Achilles tear.
“He’s out for the year, unfortunately,” said Sun Devils head coach Dennis Erickson. “Like all Achilles [injuries], no one hit him, he was just trying to cut.”
Magee was likely to figure heavily in Erickson’s plans this season and his injury will force him to rely on a younger player stepping up to fill Magee’s shoes.
“He’s kind of the backbone of our defense,” quarterback Brock Osweiler said. “If we do lose him, it’s going to be a big bummer for this football team, but at the same time, injuries happen and guys need to step up.”
Last season, Magee had 75 tackles, 49 of which were solo, and 1.5 sacks for the Sun Devils.
