ASU’s Marshall running well on hurt ankle

The official play-by-play stats sheet describes the fourth snap of the Arizona State and USC game: Marshall, C. rush for 70 yards to the USC0, 1ST DOWN, TOUCHDOWN.
What’s left out—besides the fact that is was the Sun Devils’ longest play from scrimmage of the season, is that Cameron Marshall is running at less than 100-percent.
“He’s been bothered by an ankle since about the second week of two-a-days,” explained head coach Dennis Erickson Monday. “He got horse-collared in a scrimmage. It just doesn’t seem to get better.”
Well, it looked pretty good Saturday night.
Marshall rushed for 141 yards—his third career 100-yard game, and three touchdowns helping ASU to a 43-22 victory in the team’s first-ever PAC-12 game.
“He’s a warrior,” quarterback Brock Osweiler said. “He’s a tough dude. He’s not going to sit out of a game unless he absolutely has to.”
