Sun Devils move on, prepare for Oregon St.

Beating USC was big. The biggest “without question” since
his arrival in Tempe, according to head coach Dennis
Erickson.

But that was last week. “It was fun while it lasted,”
Erickson said of the 43-22 win. “It’s over with now.”

This week Arizona State hosts Oregon State, and while it
pales in comparison to the 11-year run of futility the Sun
Devils suffered against the Trojans, Erickson believes
it’s been much too long since his club earned a victory
over the Beavers.

“We haven’t beaten them in three years.”

The year was 2007, 44-32.

Oregon State was Erickson’s home not long ago, as coached
in Corvallis for four years (’99-’02).
“I know Mike (Riley) very well, and I know the foundation
of that program.”

That program this season is off to 0-3 start. Oregon State
hasn’t started 0-4 since 1996.
