ASU’s Lewis won’t play this season (his words)

Those who were holding out hope that Arizona State
sophomore running back Deantre Lewis would get on the
field some time this season for the 18th-ranked Sun Devils
got some bad news on Wednesday night.
And that bad news came right from the source.
Lewis took to Twitter and sent out the following:
for the 1st time since I was 7yrs old this is
the only season that I will not play in due to an injury.
#beastmode
And moments later, he added this:
#asufootball finna be on top dis year. but I
PROMISE you. WE WILL BE NATIONAL CHAMPS NEXT YEAR!!!
#NoLie #deadserious
Lewis was the victim of a random shooting in his hometown
of Norco, CA back in February, and if the above is true he
will redshirt this season, which makes sense with the
season already half over.
Lewis has practiced, but his participation since returning
has been limited. He’s been in full pads only a few times,
and those occassions never lasted very long.
Lewis ran for 552 yards and 4 touchdowns and caught 23
passes for 370 yards and 2 more scores as a freshman last
season.
