Brock Osweiler returns to Eugene

It’s a game Brock Osweiler would just as soon forget.
That’s easier said than done.
The game in question: his first collegiate start.
“It was kind of cold that night,” he said this week
looking back on November 14, 2009 when he filled in for an
injured Danny Sullivan against Oregon in Eugene. “[Autzen
Stadium] was everything that it gets hyped up to be; it’s
loud, it’s noisy, their fans are on top of you.”
Osweiler that day became the first true freshman to start
for the Sun Devils since Jake Plummer in 1993. However,
it was a short-lived outing. He completed 5-of-10 passes
for 15 yards before leaving the game in the second quarter
with an injury.
“A lot has happened since then,” he added. “I was a young
kid making my first start. Now, I’ve played in a few
games since then.”
“He’s playing much more mature than he did two years ago,”
according to head coach Dennis Erickson. “You have to
think: he was an 18-year-old kid out of Kalispell, Montana
going into Autzen Stadium for his first start. That’s
pretty hard.
