Is Brock Osweiler too complacent?

“The way I see it in my eyes is we’re first place in the
Pac-12 South,” ASU quarterback Brock Osweiler said. “We’re sitting
right where we had hoped we’d be at this time during the
season and we just have to continue to build upon that.”

Osweiler has been praised for his leadership this season,
especially compared to previous Sun Devil quarterbacks.

But those comments made off the field have Arizona Sports
620’s Ron Wolfley wondering if the QB has become too
complacent with the team’s success.

“To me, as a former player, this is exactly the kind of
thing you never want to say in public; ‘We’re right where
we want to be,’ because it makes you sound complacent,”
Wolfley said.

Nobody will accuse Osweiler of being wrong, as Wolfley
said it is an intellectually correct statement, but
emotionally his comments aren’t what you expect from
someone who claims to have lofty goals.

“There’s a reason why you throw out the clichés,” Wolfley
said. “It’s because you never want to appear over-
confident or you never want to appear complacent.”
