Snapshot: ASU blows another chance

ASU's running game was atrocious. The Sun Devils carried the ball 25 times, but only posted a paltry 58 yards and a touchdown. Hardly the display we're used to seeing from a team with Cameron Marshall in the backfield. Washington State didn't really hurt ASU with the run game. The Cougars only rushed for 79 yards and a touchdown. Hardly impressive or threatening numbers, but they posted more than ASU. ASU may have lost, but quarterback Brock Osweiler had a pretty decent game. He went 28-for-44, but his receivers dropped a few and didn't help him out. His 345 yards and a passing touchdown helped keep the Devils in the game. Take a bow, Mr. Halliday. Washington State quarterback Connor Halliday, who is a red shirt freshman, tore Arizona State up on Saturday. The kid threw for 494 yards and four touchdowns. He completed 27 of his 36 attempted passes. Oh, he also embarrassed the Sun Devils secondary. The Washington State Cougars had every reason to celebrate Saturday night. They put a Pac-12 South favorite to shame and outplayed a team they hadn't been in seven years. Yet, despite back-to-back bad games, ASU still could squeeze into the Pac-12 championship game.
