ASU’s Robinson saving his best for last
He’s been the one — and perhaps only — bright spot
during ASU’s current three-game losing streak.
“If there’s an MVP right now it would be him,” said head
coach Dennis Erickson.
“He just has a lot of hunger to get the football right
now,” added quarterback Brock Osweiler.
Both are talking about senior wide receiver Gerell
Robinson. “I’ve worked my hardest to get to this point
and I’m finally grateful to be in the position I’m in.”
Robinson has been in almost perfect position, setting a
new career-high in receiving yards in each of the last
three weeks: 131 at UCLA, 158 at Washington State and 199
vs. Arizona. He also established a new career-high with
11 catches last Saturday against in-state rival UA.
“He’s a determined wide receiver,” Osweiler stated. “He’s
really stepped up his game in the past couple of weeks and
made my job easy by getting open for me.”
Robinson can’t, nor will he try to explain what has
clicked for him in recent weeks. “I wish I could tell you
some supernatural thing but I honestly haven’t.”
