ASU eliminated from Pac-12 title contention

Despite losing three straight games and squandering control of the South
Division, there was still something to play for on Friday night the Arizona
State Sun Devils.
ASU was rooting for a three-way tie in the standings between themselves,
Utah and UCLA, as that was the only way for the Sun Devils to clinch the
Pac-12 South due to the tie-breaking procedure.
Surely Utah would take care of Colorado in Salt Lake City; the Buffaloes had
lost 23 straight road games. Well, it wasn’t to be as Colorado pulled off the
“upset”, beating Utah 17-14, and handing the Pac-12 South to UCLA,
regardless of what happens in the Bruins’ game against USC.
Arizona State’s game against Cal on Friday night now holds no significance
whatseover, unless it’s being used for evaluation purposes on head coach
Dennis Erickson.
