Tempe, AZ– And the collapse is complete.
The Arizona State Sun Devils, who were sitting pretty at 6-2 and in
control of the Pac-12 South just 28 days ago, completed their November
swoon with a 47-38 loss to California at Sun Devil Stadium on Friday
night.
C.J. Anderson scored on a 3-yard touchdown run with 9:02 left in the
third quarter to put the Golden Bears up 34-31. A little more than six
minutes later, Anderson got behind the defense and scored on a 74-yard
touchdown pass from Zach Maynard to put Cal up by 10.
The Sun Devils got within three on Cameron Marshall’s 2nd touchdown
run of the game, this one from 24 yards, in the final seconds of the third
quarter. ASU would get no closer as Giorgio Tavecchio booted two
fourth quarter field goals to provide the winning margin for the Golden
Bears.
The loss was the fourth in a row for the Sun Devils, who finish their
regular season at 6-6. Cal finishes the regular season at 7-5.
