ESPN Insider Mark May skewers ASU

What a difference a day makes.

Wednesday afternoon, Arizona State was close to finalizing
a deal with SMU head coach June Jones to take over the
head coaching reins for the Sun Devils. An outcry from ASU
fans and media alike soon followed, disappointed and
underwhelmed by the school’s choice.

While the reaction was not a positive one, the shocking
turn of events that followed was far worse — garnering an
intense national backlash against the Sun Devils athletic
department.

ASU unexpectedly pulled their offer from Jones, amid
rumblings of criticism from fans and boosters, along with
mysterious claims of “background issues” that weren’t a
mere mention during the team’s ongoing negotiations with
Jones.

Thursday afternoon on Arizona Sports 620’s Burns and
Gambo,
ESPN Insider Mark May minced no words, blasting the ASU
athletic department for their poor actions.
