ASU receiver has an in with a possible coaching candidate

Arizona State wide receiver Aaron Pflugrad is about to
play in his final game for the Sun Devils, though there’s
a chance he won’t be the last member of his family to wear
maroon and gold.

Aaron’s dad Robin is currently the head coach for the
University of Montana, but would he be be a good fit in
Tempe? Aaron thinks so.

“I’m hearing a lot of names and everything, but I know my
dad could do a great job down here,” he told Arizona
Sports 620’s Burns and Gambo.

Of course, as of now it’s probably a moot point. There are
no indications ASU has any interest in the coach, who
spent time as an assistant with the Sun Devils from 1995-
2000, and, as Aaron said, his dad is pretty happy where
he’s at right now. His team is currently in the middle of
a playoff run, so he may not be anxious to look elsewhere.

But he could also win in Tempe, especially if he can keep
the top local talent from leaving the state. Winning, of
course, would play a role.

“I think my dad could do that, but whoever they bring in I
think that’s the goal, is just to start building a program
that the community is proud of and put people in the
stands,” he said. “That keeps all the big time recruits in
the state.”

Robin Pflugrad may be one of the rising stars in the
coaching ranks, but is he ready to make the jump from the
Big Sky to the Pac-12? If so, does ASU even want him?
