Noel Mazzone leaves Arizona State for UCLA

Dec 14, 2011, 7:48 PM | Updated: 8:15 pm

The fallout from the Todd Graham hire has begun, as
offensive coordinator Noel Mazzone has left ASU for a job at
UCLA.

According to CBS Sports’ Bruce Feldman, it’s
another good hire for Jim Mora.

Mazzone has been in Tempe since 2010, and oversaw an offense
that scored 33.9 points per game, which ranked 25th in the
nation, and was 11th in the country in passing yards last
season.

It was thought that Mazzone could stay on at ASU when the
new coach was hired or, perhaps, even that Mazzone could get
the head job. Quarterback Brock Osweiler
was pushing for Mazzone
, and it appeared the 54-year-old
may have delayed jumping ship to UCLA until he knew for sure
he wasn’t getting the job at ASU.
