Graham names Chris Ball as co-defensive coordinator
Newly hired Arizona State head coach Todd Graham continued
to fill out his coaching staff on Friday, naming Chris Ball
as his co-defensive coordinator.
Ball, 45, has been on the staff at Washington State for the
past three seasons, serving as assistant head coach, co-
defensive coordinator and safeties coach. In 2011, Ball’s
WSU defense ranked 6th in the Pac-12 (81st in the nation) in
total defense, allowing 409.6 yards per game and 8th in the
conference (94th in the nation) in scoring defense at 31.8
points per game.
Ball has also coached the secondary at Pittsburgh in 2007
and Alabama from 2003 to 2006. In 2004, Ball’s Crimson Tide
secondary led the nation in pass defense and ranked 2nd in
pass efficiency defense.
Earlier on Friday, Graham named 30-year-old Mike Norvell to
ASU’s coaching staff. Norvell had served as a co-offensive
coordinator under Graham at Pittsburgh.
